A few weeks ago, I was in Beirut on an invitation from the United Nations — ESCWA for regional open data meetings & workshops.
The highlight of the event was the launch of a new open data report and guide document I was commissioned to write by the international organisation.
The main objective of the document is to offer guidance for governments of 22 Arab states on how to approach open data.
It was such an interesting & challenging experience. I’ve been advising local & national governments on open data since 2013 and delivered many training workshops & awareness events including two recent ones for Queensland government and for Ajman local government in the United Arab Emirates. This latter one was attended by The Crown Prince of Ajmanis Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi.
